Maple-Spice Applesauce Maple-Spice Applesauce

This special applesauce is perfect served with almost any meal, from breakfast to dessert. It also makes a delicious snack with cheese and crackers.

INGREDIENTS
4 large apples, peeled, cored, and roughly chopped
1 cup apple cider
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

METHOD

Place the apples, cider, and maple syrup into a medium-sized saucepan coated with DuPont SilverStone® non-stick. Bring the mixture to a boil; cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes (tightly covered) until the apples are tender. Remove pan from heat and let cool. Transfer the apple mixture to a food processor and pureé with the lemon juice, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon, making a smooth or chunky sauce as desired. Serve slightly warmed or chilled.
